Quality Hill YMCA

SEA performed complete structural design services and prepared contract documents for the renovation of the Quality Hill YMCA, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Several areas on the interior of the building were on the verge of collapse due to unauthorized column removal during previous construction work. The structural renovation included wood column replacement and reinforcement, the addition of structural steel reinforcement to act compositely with the existing wood beams, and the stabilization of a masonry wall using pneumatically placed mortar.

This project also included the addition of a new elevator to facilitate handicap access. The renovation accommodated new administrative, storage, locker room and exercise space.
