SEA wins Award of Excellence for Auditorium Plaza Garage Repairs
Nov. 12, 2007
Structural Engineering Associates (SEA) received a 2007 Award of Excellence from the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) for restoration and repair work on the Auditorium Plaza Garage in Kansas City, Mo.
Constructed in 1954 and occupying an entire city block, the Auditorium Plaza Garage is the largest municipal parking structure in downtown Kansas City, Mo. This three-level underground garage suffered from severe corrosion and deterioration, so a repair project was launched in 2005. The project included significant concrete repairs, a new tennis court, new vendor areas, a restored water feature and repaired plaza areas. Total project cost was $6.7 million and it took 18 months to complete.
SEA led the multi-disciplined team for this project.
The award was presented at the 15th Annual ICRI Awards Banquet on Nov. 8, in Las Vegas. ICRI is a nonprofit association with more than 1,800 members worldwide and is a leading source for concrete repair, restoration and protection education and information. The ICRI awards program recognized outstanding projects in the concrete repair industry.
