IRS Service Center
Kansas City, Missouri
SEA provided the structural design for this developer-led $270 million facility. The new IRS center includes 620,000 square feet of office space, which is housed on nine acres of land. A 3,800-car parking facility was constructed below the building and involves three stories of earth retention.
This project uses cast-in-place concrete with a steel roof and was designed for high security. During the design phase, our engineers worked with a blast consultant to develop the structural designs for the building and garage.
Construction sequencing was crucial for this large government project and our engineers worked closely with the contractor to stay on schedule. |
